Meaning

(an animal/pet is) friendly/affectionate/loyal to a certain person (e.g. the owner)

Additional Info

Similarly, 人(ひと)懐(なつ)っこい means “very friendly to people”. In Pokémon, なつき度 (“the level of 懐く”) is used to describe how friendly/loyal your Pokémon is to you, which is translated as “Happiness” or “Friendship” in English.

Example

猫(ねこ)が私に全然(ぜんぜん)懐いてくれない
My cat is not friendly to me at all.
