Additional Info

It is an abbreviation of the phrase イケてるメン, where the first word イケてる is an outdated casual word meaning “cool/awesome” and メン is said to originate from either the English word “men” or the Japanese word ‘面(めん)’ meaning “face”.

Not only an appearance, does it also describe someone’s cool behaviour.

イケメンの彼氏が欲しい。
I want a handsome boyfriend.

え、荷物持ってくれるの?マジイケメン!
Wow, you are holding my luggage for me? You’re so cool!
